Chapter 1 Introduction

The product manual of DataFocus Cloud contains information on how to use DataFocus Cloud and how to use search to analyze data. It will help users understand the features of DataFocus Cloud quickly. Users can use DataFocus Cloud to search, view, save, share the analysis results, and generate a dynamic display of visualization dashboard. DataFocus Cloud makes data analysis as easy as searching.

DataFocus Cloud supports both local installation and cloud usage. You only need to connect to the network, then you can register and use it online by accessing the domain name.

1.1 Login System

1.1.1 Sign Up

Enter the official website of DataFocus Cloud, as shown in figure 1-1-1. The registration method is as follows:

  1. Fill in your email in the highlighted place and click “Trial Now”; Or first Click “Sign up” / “Trial Now”;

  2. In the pop-up window, fill in all of the registration information, here are the requirements of format:

    Username: Length is within 4~16, and should consist of both letters & numbers

    Password: Length is within 6~18, with at least 1 letter, 1 number, and 1 special character, e.g.: ‘abc@123’

    As shown in figure 1-1-2, after filling in the information, click “Free Trial”;

  3. Fill in the information of industry, detained work, and the usage purpose of DataFocus Cloud in the pop-up interface, as shown in figure 1-1-3, click “Continue” after completion;

  4. After successful registration, you will enter the DataFocus Cloud homepage directly, as shown in figure 1-1-4.

1.1.2 Log In

Enter the official website of DataFocus Cloud, the login method is as follows:

  1. As shown in figure 1-1-5, click the “Login”;

  2. Fill in email and password, as shown in figure 1-1-6, then you need to slide right to complete the verification. Next, click the “Login”, then you can login to the website successfully and start to use DataFocus Cloud.

1.1.3 Forget Password

You can click the “Forget password?” button on the login page when you forget your password. The steps are as follows:

  1. First, confirm your account, then enter your email correctly, and click the “Get code”. As shown in figure 1-1-7, enter the correct verification code, and click “Next step”;

  2. Next, Enter the new password and confirmed password, as shown in figure 1-1-8, click “Confirm”; The format of the password requires: Length is within 6~18, with at least 1 letter, 1 number, 1 special character, e.g.: ‘abc@123’

  3. After the password is changed successfully, you can log in again with the new password in the pop-up window.

1.2 Console

On the official website interface, after login, the window will automatically jump into the console page, as shown in figure 1-2-1.

The highlighted area displays DataFocus Cloud related information: version, specific usage information, including the number of users, queries, and system capacity. The usage information is updated once a day. You can also click “Open” in the upper right corner to enter the DataFocus Cloud homepage.

1.3 DataFocus Cloud Homepage

On the official website interface, after login, the window will automatically jump into the console page. To go to the homepage of DataFocus Cloud, you can either click the “Open” on the console page as introduced in Section 1.2 or if you are on the official website:

  1. Hover the mouse over the avatar, as shown in figure 1-3-1. Click “Console” in the window below the avatar to enter the console page and open the application.

  2. Hover the mouse over the nine-square grid on the left side of the avatar, as shown in figure 1-3-2, and click “DataFocus Cloud” to enter the DataFocus Cloud homepage.

    The homepage of DataFocus Cloud is shown below in figure 1-3-3.

1.4 User Profile

To enter the profile page, you can either:

  1. Go to console, as shown in figure 1-4-1, you can either hover over the avatar. Click “Profile” in the pop-up window, or directly click “Profile” in the left menu bar.

  2. Go to the homepage of DataFocus Cloud, and the upper right corner of the page will display the user’s name currently logged in, as shown in figure 1-4-2. Click on the avatar/name, and the window below will display some basic information including user name, version, space capacity, as well as version and three buttons: user center, order management, and Taowen. Then click “User Center” to enter the personal information interface;

1.4.1 Edit Avatar

On the profile page, click the avatar or click “Change” to modify the avatar, as shown in figure 1-4-3. The uploaded avatar supports jpg, png, gif, bmp format and the size is within 100K.

1.4.2 Edit Name

Click “Change” at the back of the name row. As shown in figure 1-4-4, enter a new user name in the pop-up window. The user name cannot be empty. Click “Confirm” to modify the user name.

1.4.3 Edit Email

Click “Change” at the back of the Email row. As shown in figure 1-4-5, Type in a new email address and click “Get code”. After entering the correct verification code, click “Confirm” to modify the email address.

1.4.4 Edit Password

Click “Change” at the back of the password row. There are two ways of changing the password.

  1. By email
    As shown in figure 1-4-6, click “Get code”. After entering the correct verification code, click the “Next step”. In the new window, type in the new password twice, as shown in figure 1-4-7, and click the “Confirm” to modify the password.

  2. By entering the old password

    As shown in figure 1-4-8, type in the old password, and click the “Next step”. You can choose to view the password or not. In the new window, similarly, enter the new password twice, and click the “Confirm” to modify the password.

1.4.5 Log Out

On the DataFocus official website or console page, hover over the avatar, and click “Exit” in the window below the avatar to log out. As shown in figure 1-4-9, the official website interface is used as an example.

1.5 Permission Management

In the DataFocus system, permissions are attached to roles, to obtain corresponding role permissions, relevant roles need to be added to users.

Permission management belongs to the system management module. Only the administrator or users with administrative permission can configure the resources and add role permissions.

There are six default roles in the system, as shown in table 1-1:

1.6 Sharing Management

The sharing function is used in visualization dashboard and history answer.

Users can share their visualization dashboard or answer to a single user or multiple users, and share the content shared by others. As shown in figure 1-6-1, using answer as the example here. Hover over a answer, and click the share button. In the pop-up window, as shown in figure 1-6-2, under the “search user” bar, choose the user you want to share to, and click the “Add to sharers”.

Then the user chosen will appear in the middle, as shown in figure 1-6-3. Then click the “submit” to complete the sharing. The sharing can be canceled afterward. You can click on the “x” button on the back of the shared user to cancel the sharing. After the cancellation, the shared user cannot view the answer.

When the shared user is viewing, the system will change the interface according to the permissions, and thus users can only see the part with permission.

1.7 Tag Management

Users can create tags to classify and manage resources for better filtering, viewing, and using.

Users with data management permission can create tags in the history answer, visualization dashboard, table management, resource management, and user center. The created tags can be synchronized in each module. Users can also modify and delete the name and color of tags. Users without data management permission can only apply or select tags.

Here uses resource management as an example. Click the “sticker”, as shown in figure 1-7-1. Then click “Add/Edit Sticker”, enter the name and select the color, as shown in figure 1-7-2, click the “+” button on the right to complete the creation.

After completing the creation of tags, you can add tags to resources such as visualization dashboard and answer. As shown in figure 1-7-3, first click the check box in the upper left corner of the resource, and then click the color of the tag to add the corresponding tag to the resource.

After adding a tagged resource, the tag color or content will be displayed, as shown in figure 1-7-4. Multiple tags can be added to the same resource.

1.8 Help Center

1.8.1 Product Manual

On the DataFocus official website interface or the console page, hover the mouse over the avatar, and click “Help” in the window below the avatar to jump to the DataFocus Cloud product information, as shown in figure 1-8-1. Users can view the product manual and other related content here.

On the DataFocus Cloud interface, as shown in figure 1-8-2, click “Help” in the upper right corner, and click “User Manual” in the window below “Help” to jump to the latest version of the product manual.

1.8.2 Tutorials of DataFocus Cloud

On the DataFocus Cloud interface, as shown in figure 1-8-3, click “Help” in the upper right corner, and in the window below “Help”, click “DataFocus Cloud Tutorial”, and it will jump to the DataFocus Cloud video tutorial page. Users can learn more about the functions of DataFocus Cloud through video tutorials.

1.8.3 Community of DataFocus Cloud

On the DataFocus Cloud interface, as shown in figure 1-8-4, click “Help” in the upper right corner, and in the window below “Help”, click “DataFocus Cloud BBS” to jump to the DataFocus Cloud community page. Users can exchange data analysis experiences with other users in the community.

1.8.4 Version of DataFocus Cloud

When a new version of the product is launched, users can see a red dot prompt in the upper right corner of the help button when entering the system. On the DataFocus Cloud interface, as shown in figure 1-8-5, click “Help” in the upper right corner, in the window below “Help”, click “DataFocus Cloud Version”, it will prompt a version update, click the “Upgrade” to update for the latest version. When there is no version update, click to view the current version information and application name, as shown in figure 1-8-6.
